Love and Apology

LOVE AND APOLOGY

Jesus’ demand from Peter after his denial of Jesus was not an expression of apology, but of love. Love can wipe away the mistakes made to the person. Paul wrote on love, “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Cor 13:4-7). In the story of the Prodigal son (Lk 15:11-32), the father did not let his son complete his words of repentance. Out of his love, the father ordered a celebration of the return of his lost son. The lack of love of the elder son towards his brother made him protest, even against his father.
