Why Jesus used “woman” while addressing his mother?
God’s words to the serpent, giving hope for the first parents, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; they will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel” (Gen 3:15) were realized at the foot of the cross where Mary, the Mother of God, was supporting her son. That was the reason he addressed his mother as “woman”.
